Blaine's motto is "Where America Begins." The community is also known as "The Gateway to the Pacific Northwest" and the "Peace Arch City." All these phrases are commentaries on Blaine's unique locale. It lies at the northernmost point of Interstate 5, next to Drayton Harbor and Boundary Bay. Blaine rests between the mountains east of Vancouver, the flatlands of Skagit County, the North Cascades (including Mount Baker), and the south end of Vancouver Island. The coastal climate of the area provides milder weather compared to the rest of the Pacific Northwest.

The spit is home to Semiahmoo Park where visitors enjoy beachcombing, birdwatching, picnicking, and walking the Semiahmoo Spit trail. The surrounding neighborhoods are known for their waterfront and golf course views. There is a mix of custom homes, gated communities, condos and townhomes here.
