Greetings from Blaine, WA! Are you considering a move to our little town by the sea? Well, let me tell you, folks, there’s plenty for everyone in this little "corner" of the Pacific Northwest.
First off, for those who don’t know, Blaine is a small town that is literally in the upper left corner of the state of Washington and the continental United States. It's situated on the border between the United States and Canada. It’s a place where you can stand with one foot in each country, which is pretty cool. But it also means that sometimes you might accidentally forget which side of the border you’re on and get stopped by border patrol. Don’t worry, it happens to the best of us.
Another fun fact about Blaine is that it’s the home of the “Peace Arch,” a giant white monument that symbolizes the friendship between the US and Canada. It’s a beautiful structure that’s great for photos, but let’s be real – it’s also a prime target for pigeons. If you’re not careful, you might end up with some unwanted souvenirs on your clothes.
One of the best things about living in Blaine is the abundance of wildlife. We’ve got all sorts of critters running around, from deer to raccoons to bald eagles. But the most famous residents are the resident harbor seals, who love to lounge on the docks and bark at passersby. They’re like the town mascots, and everyone loves them – unless you happen to be trying to sleep and they start serenading you at 2am.
Of course, like any small town, Blaine has its quirks. We’ve got a few restaurants, a couple of bars, and not much else. But we make do with what we’ve got. I mean, between Drayton Harbor Oyster Company and the Vault Wine bar, we've got you covered! There’s a certain charm to walking down Peace Portal Drive and seeing familiar faces at every turn. And when the biggest event of the year is the International Festival, you learn to appreciate the little things.
All in all, living in Blaine is a unique experience. It’s a place where you can appreciate the beauty of nature, the friendliness of the locals, and the occasional hilarity of being so close to Canada. If you’re looking for excitement, this might not be the town for you. But if you’re looking for a good laugh and a simpler way of life, then come on up and join us! We’ll save a spot for you at the seal docks.
Of course, if you are planning a move, we would love to help you find the perfect house here in Blaine!
